Subject: School Bus Accident on Highway 10
This morning, at approximately 7:38 a.m., we were notified that one of our school buses, Bus 39, was involved in an accident on Highway 10 westbound near the intersection of Bell Road. Preliminary reports indicate that the bus was traveling westbound and had activated its left turn signal to negotiate a turn onto Bell Road. At this time, a Mazda SUV impacted the bus from the rear.
We are thankful to report that the bus driver and the learners on board were not injured in the collision. They were all transported to St. Helena Art and Technology Academy (SHATA) to be checked by first responders and reunited with their families. They were also provided the opportunity to receive counseling services by Southeast Community Health Systems.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all individuals and families affected by this tragic incident. We are working closely with law enforcement as they conduct their investigation. We ask for patience and understanding as we navigate this sensitive situation. Any further updates will be shared as they become available.
