We are happy to announce that beginning March 2023, major construction/renovations will take place at The Early Learning Center! We are excited about the work that is about to take place. However, the contractors will be doing a lot of work on the campus and we won’t be able to guarantee the safety of all our kids during the school day. So, everyone will move to the St. Helena Arts and Technology Academy (SHATA) until the work is complete. The transition schedule is below:
Monday, December 5 – Kindergarten
Monday, December 12 – Second Grade
Thursday, December 15 – Pre-K and First Grade
Our maintenance department, janitorial staff, school administrators, and teachers have been working diligently to make the transition as smooth as possible. There is enough room at SHATA to accommodate all our kids comfortably and the daily schedule has been arranged to ensure that no instructional time will be lost. In addition, all services will transition with our learners (food, bus transportation, medical, etc.) without interruption. We expect the ELC family to return to their newly renovated school site in January 2024.
The scope of work scheduled for the ELC consists of the following:
Renovations to the existing gymnasium and classroom buildings. Renovation work will consist of the following:
- Roof and window replacement
New HVAC systems
New touchless plumbing fixtures
Upgrades to interior finishes
Construction of a New 4,900 square foot Administrative Building in place of the existing 2,500 square foot Administrative Building. The New Administrative Building will house the following:
Lobby serving the administrative spaces as well as the existing Gymnasium. Restrooms and concessions for the gym can be accessed from the Lobby.
- Media Center
Office Suite
Reception
Work/Break Room
