They’re analyzing Schechter Poultry Corp v. United States (1935), Wickard v. Filburn (1942), and Goldberg v. Kelly (1970)—all while working toward strong academic outcomes.

Today our 8th grade learners dove into literary analysis!
They identified key features of various text structures in two literary pieces—including poetry—and explored how different structures impact meaning. It was exciting to see them compare and contrast the effects of these structures and deepen their understanding of literature!

Today’s Learning Spotlight: Building Empathy through Conflict Resolution
Our learners engaged in a powerful activity designed to deepen their understanding of emotions and perspectives during conflicts.
Objective: To explore and understand emotions involved in conflicts, enhancing empathy.
Activity Highlight:
Learners were presented with a real-life scenario—a learner feels excluded from a group. Working in small groups, they created “Empathy Maps” that captured:
• What each character thinks
• What they feel
• What they might say
• And what they might do
These thoughtful reflections opened the door for meaningful discussions on how empathy can reshape conflict resolution and promote kindness in our school community.

They’re honing their skills to describe character reactions and use evidence to explain how these reactions reflect a shift in point of view. Through guided reading and thoughtful discussion, they’re also practicing comparing and contrasting how different characters interpret the same events. Southeast Community Health Systems is offering vision testing at Greensburg schools to support the health and wellness of our students during a well-child, sports physical, or preventative visit. Early detection is key to ensuring students succeed academically and beyond. The Vision Screener tool is a handheld, portable device that allows for fast, non-invasive vision screening. If the screening shows that your child may need further care, we will contact you. You will receive a summary of the results and, if needed, a recommendation to schedule a full eye exam with an optometrist.
