St. Helena College & Career Academy is actively working to expand the youth vote by organizing youth voter registration drives. By assisting first-time voters in running successful drives at their schools, SHCCA aims to build a broader culture of civic engagement that starts in high school and encourages youths to make significant civic change in their communities.

Learners in Mrs. Williams' Psychology 101 class were completing their first chapter test on "Psychology as a science". Psychologists base their professional practice in knowledge that is obtained through verifiable evidence of human behavior and mental processes.

Help your Pre k - Grade 12 learners and parents prepare for the high-pay, high-demand, and highly-rewarding jobs of the 21st century with hands-on, minds-on STEM activities. Learners in Mr. Deibel's class worked on their character understanding tool for the novel they are currently reading called "Things Fall Apart". They are comparing and contrasting the two characters Okonkwo and Unoka in order to gather and organize evidence to demonstrate their understanding of characters in a novel.
The food pantries will be open this Thursday, February 9th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm! Turnout has been awesome. Please make sure you get there early!

Learners in Mrs. Alfred's Environmental Science class had an engaging lesson about the five systems of Earth. (geosphere, biosphere, cryosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere) Not only do the Earth systems overlap, they are also interconnected; what affects one can affect another. Each one plays a vital role in the function and sustainability of Earth’s system.

Last Friday the Hawks were victorious across the board when we traveled to Independence. JV, Varsity Girls & Varsity Boys all dominated from beginning to end. SHCCA partnered with Candace A. Wingham, owner of Courage to Save CPR Training in order to teach our learners CPR, first aid & other life saving techniques. Learners engaged in a five hour training and once completed will have their E-Card (Heart Saver, CPR & First Aid Certification) through the American Heart Association. Learners trained on techniques for infants as well as adults ensuring their ability to deliver the care that someone needs until medical professionals arrive.

The learners are prepared for college, and are marketable to endless Agriculture Career Opportunities. SHCCA FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of learners by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
